Nicola looks up as he adjusts his waistcoat, as if searching for courage somewhere above him. Francesca, in the other house, closes her eyes as her veil is arranged. Two preparations, the same anticipation.
The baroque church, the gilded altar, a signature made with a trembling hand. Outside, children run through rice and soap bubbles. Then the stone stairway, the bouquet thrown to the sky, playful glances behind the columns. An elegant wedding, but never stiff: just like them.
